Padres' Robert Suárez Suspended 10 Games for Sticky Substance, Appeals Decision
San Diego Padres pitcher Robert Suárez has been suspended for 10 games by Major League Baseball for using banned sticky substances. Suárez was ejected from a game after having sticky stuff on his left wrist and arm, although he denied using any banned substances and claimed it was sunscreen. He has appealed the suspension, and any punishment will be delayed until the appeal is resolved. Suárez is the sixth pitcher to be penalized for using sticky stuff since MLB began cracking down on foreign substances in 2021.
