Southwest Michigan Braces as State Activates Emergency Center Over Tornado-Damaged Storms
Gov. Gretchen Whitmer activated the State Emergency Operations Center after Friday’s severe storms swept through Southwest Michigan, with high winds and suspected tornadoes causing injuries and power outages. MSP/EMHSD coordinators are on scene working with local officials to fulfill resource requests as injuries are reported in Branch, Cass and St. Joseph counties and damage accumulates across communities, including Three Rivers Health campus, which was damaged but remains open.
