The storm brought heavy rain and wind, with wind gusts of 78 mph reported. St. Tammany Parish President declared a state of emergency, and Slidell's mayor also declared a state of emergency. The tornado caused widespread damage, with buildings, cars, and trees heavily affected, and police officers rescuing over 50 people trapped in an apartment complex.
