Serbia's President Vucic Resigns as Ruling Party Leader
Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic has resigned as the leader of the governing Srpska Napredna Stranka (Serbian Progressive Party, SNS) amid ongoing anti-government protests following two consecutive mass shootings that killed 18 people this month. Vucic will remain head of state, but a new approach is needed to unite the country. The move came a day after tens of thousands of people rallied in the centre of the Serbian capital Belgrade in a show of support for Vucic after the massive anti-government protests against the shootings.
