"Jewish Democratic Endorsements and Israel-Gaza Tensions in NY Democratic Primaries"
The Jewish Democratic Council of America (JDCA) has endorsed primary challengers to far-left lawmakers Jamaal Bowman and Cori Bush, marking the first time the group has backed candidates challenging Democratic incumbents. The endorsements went to George Latimer, challenging Bowman, and Wesley Bell, challenging Bush, with JDCA emphasizing a range of priorities including abortion rights, defending democracy, safer communities, combating gun violence, healthcare, and support for Israel. The group chose not to support Democrat Bhavini Patel, who is running against Rep. Summer Lee, and plans to focus on "competitive" races in New York and Missouri. JDCA does not plan to offer financial support to primary candidates but intends to spend $1.5 million in the general election, also announcing endorsements in several Senate races.
