Kari Bosley, the lead mission planner for the James Webb Space Telescope at the Space Telescope Science Institute, shares her journey of overcoming gender stereotypes and reviving her career. Despite being told she couldn't be part of aviation due to her gender, Bosley found her passion for space and became a mission planner. She works with another planner to schedule activities for the telescope, ensuring data and photographs are obtained efficiently. Inspired by her work, Bosley is pursuing a degree in systems engineering and believes that she can achieve anything she sets her mind to, regardless of gender.

Hubble Images Now Clearer with New Software.

The Hubble Space Telescope's images are increasingly being spoiled by satellites, but researchers at the Space Telescope Science Institute have developed new software to mitigate the issue and remove the troublesome satellites from photos. The new tool identifies satellite trails in photos captured by Hubble’s Advanced Camera for Surveys using an image analysis technique called “Radon Transform.” The software is up to ten times more sensitive than prior software and identifies “roughly twice” as many trails as its previous studies.
