SpaceVIP, a luxury-space tourism company, is offering a $495,000 meal experience aboard a space balloon in the stratosphere, prepared by chef Rasmus Munk of the Michelin-starred restaurant Alchemist. The six-hour journey will include a series of dishes inspired by space exploration, served as the sun rises over the Earth's curvature. The company plans to begin manned test flights by the end of this year, with commercial flights starting in 2025, and the proceeds from the expensive meal will be donated to fund the Space Prize for promoting women in STEM education and gender equity in the space economy.
