Cyclone Freddy's Devastation in Southern Africa: Over 500 Dead and Counting.
The death toll due to Cyclone Freddy in southeast Africa has risen to 522, with Malawi being the hardest hit. Mozambique and Madagascar have also been affected. Hundreds of evacuation centres have been set up across the region for survivors, with tens of thousands left homeless and approximately 345,000 people affected by the heavy rains, floods and landslides. Scientists say human-caused climate change has worsened cyclone activity, making them wetter, more intense and more frequent.
