Selena Chambers, a Tallahassee woman, was charged with battery for throwing a drink on Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.) at the South Walton Beaches Wine and Food Festival. Gaetz and another man pressed charges against Chambers, who claimed she tripped and spilled her drink on Gaetz. Gaetz said he decided to press charges to uphold civility in the community and prevent escalation. Another woman, Amanda Kondrat'yev, was sentenced to 15 days in jail in 2019 for throwing a drink at Gaetz.

Woman arrested for throwing drink at Rep. Matt Gaetz at Florida food festival.

Selena Jo Chambers, a 41-year-old woman from Tallahassee, Florida, was arrested and charged with battery after throwing a drink at U.S. Rep. Matt Gaetz at the South Walton Beaches Wine and Food Festival. Gaetz told police Chambers recognized him and began cursing at him before throwing her drink at him and another person. Chambers was charged with one count of misdemeanor battery and one count of battery on an elected official, which is a felony. This is the second time Gaetz has had a drink thrown at him in public.
