Verizon to credit customers $20 after outage blamed on software issue
Verizon will issue a $20 account credit to hundreds of thousands of customers affected by a roughly 10-hour wireless outage caused by a software issue, not a cyberattack. The disruption affected the Northeast, Southern California, Texas and parts of the Midwest and was resolved by evening. The FCC will review the incident, and officials advised users to restart devices or use alternative carriers or landlines for emergency calls while services were restored.
