Tragic Deaths of Experienced Hikers in New Hampshire's White Mountains
Experienced hiker Christopher Roma, 37, died during a solo hike in New Hampshire's White Mountains, facing brutal conditions including single-digit temperatures, harsh winds, and waist-deep snow. Roma, an expert hiker who ran his own trail guide business, had started the hike with two others who turned back, but he chose to continue. Concerned friends called 911 after speaking with him by cellphone, and despite rescue efforts, he was found dead by ground crews. Roma, who had previously conquered challenging trails and dedicated himself to hiking after a motorcycle accident, leaves behind a legacy of sharing his knowledge and love for nature.
