Snowmobile Crash Victim Sues Government for $9.5M
Massachusetts lawyer Jeff Smith is suing the government for $9.5 million in damages after crashing his snowmobile into a parked Black Hawk helicopter, resulting in severe injuries and loss of use of his left arm. Smith argues that the military was negligent for parking the helicopter on a rarely used snowmobile trail without adequate warning or illumination. The government has attempted to dismiss the case, claiming it can't be sued under the Federal Tort Claims Act and shifting blame onto Smith for the accident.
