"Unraveling the Mystery: Scientists Identify Possible Cause of Fatal Dog Illness"
A mysterious illness affecting dogs across the country has arrived in Maine, according to a veterinarian in Brewer. At least six dogs with severe respiratory symptoms were treated at the Eastern Maine Emergency Veterinary Clinic, and other local clinics are also reporting cases. The illness is believed to be spread snout-to-snout, so dog owners are advised to keep their pets away from other dogs. If a dog shows symptoms such as coughing, lethargy, decreased appetite, or abnormal behavior, immediate veterinary care is recommended. The illness is often contracted at doggy day care or kennels, and symptoms can take up to seven days to appear.
