Rays' Shane McClanahan to Undergo Tommy John Surgery, Out for 2024 Season
Tampa Bay Rays pitcher Shane McClanahan will undergo Tommy John surgery, which will keep him out of the game until 2025. McClanahan, a two-time All-Star starter, has been dealing with tightness in his left forearm since August. After consulting with multiple doctors, he opted for the complete ulnar collateral ligament reconstruction. This will be his second Tommy John surgery, making his recovery and rehab more challenging. The standard recovery time for this procedure is 13 to 15 months. The Rays have already had two other members of their rotation undergo major elbow surgery this season.
