Columbus Police Chief Freddie Blackmon has accepted the city's revised severance offer and will retire effective April 30. He will receive $400,000 and other benefits originally listed in the city's severance offer. Mayor Skip Henderson thanked Blackmon for his 37 years of service and said an interim chief will be named soon. The special called meeting of the Council of Columbus was held to discuss "litigation and personnel matters."
