Security Threats Prompt Evacuations at Mississippi Airports

Gulfport-Biloxi International Airport and Stennis International Airport were evacuated after receiving a wide-ranging threat via email. Although officials do not believe the threat to be credible, the evacuation was conducted as a precautionary measure. Passengers who had already gone through security had to leave and will need to be rescreened by TSA. Flights were delayed, and some passengers were transported to nearby hotels. Local law enforcement, including the Biloxi Bomb Squad, conducted security sweeps at both airports. Gulfport-Biloxi International Airport was cleared by law enforcement, and passengers were allowed to return.
