State Department Security Officer Faces Charges for Jan. 6 Capitol Attack
Kevin Michael Alstrup, a security officer who had worked as a contractor for the State Department, was arrested on federal charges for participating in the breach of the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021. The FBI found evidence linking him to the Capitol grounds and inside the building during the riot. Alstrup, familiar with providing security for high-ranking officials, spent about 28 minutes inside the Capitol, taking photos of other rioters before leaving. He is not the only person with State Department links to be arrested in connection with the breach.
