Tragic Osprey Crash Claims Lives of U.S. Air Force Crew Members
The U.S. Air Force has confirmed that all eight crew members aboard a CV-22B Osprey aircraft that crashed off the coast of Japan last week have died. The crash occurred during a routine training mission, and search and rescue operations have now transitioned to search and recovery operations. The remains of three airmen have been recovered, three have been located and are in the process of being recovered, and the search continues for the remains of the two others. The Secretary of Defense has expressed deep sadness and promised a thorough investigation. Ospreys have had previous fatal crashes, raising safety concerns. Japan has suspended flights of its own Ospreys and requested the same from U.S. forces.
