Tragic Accident Claims Life of Queens Crossing Guard
A 63-year-old school crossing guard, Krystyna Naprawa, was struck and killed by a dump truck in Queens, New York. Naprawa had just helped five people cross the street when she was hit by the truck making a right turn. The dump truck driver, Hector Yepes, was charged with failure to yield right of way to a pedestrian and failure to use due care. Naprawa, who had served as a crossing guard for 13 years, is the first school crossing guard to die on duty this year in New York City. An investigation is ongoing.
