China Executes Kindergarten Teacher for Poisoning Students
A Chinese kindergarten teacher, Wang Yun, who poisoned 25 of her students, killing one, has been executed in central China. Wang was convicted of putting toxic sodium nitrite in porridge served to children following an argument with a colleague. While Wang's motivation was presented as revenge, it remains unclear if she intended to kill or sicken her husband and the students. China has seen a disturbing trend of attacks on young students in recent years, primarily carried out by knife-wielding assailants. The country executes more prisoners annually than the rest of the world combined, with most sentences carried out by a bullet to the back of the head.
