Using VHS recordings and AI tools, dedicated fans have reverse-engineered and restored lost F-Zero courses from the defunct Nintendo Satellaview service, creating a mod called F-Zero Deluxe. The mod includes new racing machines, leagues, and ghost data, and is a remarkable feat of game preservation. The restoration process involved reverse-projecting controller inputs from a VHS copy of the missing second Grand Prix, with the results being over 99.9% accurate. Despite concerns about potential legal issues, the fan-created and non-commercial project aims to keep this piece of gaming history alive.

F-Zero fans have restored lost tracks from two forgotten F-Zero titles for the Japan-exclusive Nintendo Satellaview, F-Zero Grand Prix 1 and 2, using video footage and ROM hacking. The games were broadcast via Nintendo's Satellaview service between 1996 and 1997, offering new machines, courses, and features. A team of ROM hackers managed to accurately rebuild F-Zero Grand Prix 2, despite never having played it or having access to the ROM, and released the patch as BS F-Zero Deluxe for fans to experience the lost tracks.
