Heroic Man Identified: Sacrificed His Life to Save Mother and Daughter from San Joaquin River
Eddie Gerardo Cervantes Lora, a 41-year-old man from Manteca, died while helping rescue a mother and her 5-year-old daughter from the San Joaquin River. The woman's car veered off the road and into the river, and as the vehicle submerged, bystanders worked to save the child and the woman. However, one of the rescuers, Cervantes Lora, did not resurface. Dive crews recovered his body after an extensive search. The rescued woman is in the intensive care unit, and investigations are ongoing to determine the cause of the accident.
