'Salem's Lot' Remake Bypasses Theaters, Set to Stream on Max in 2024
The long-awaited adaptation of Stephen King's "Salem's Lot" will debut on streaming service Max in 2024 instead of in theaters, marking a departure from the traditional theatrical release. The decision comes as part of a shift in strategy for Warner Bros. Discovery, the parent company of both New Line and Max. The film, which reunites the producing teams behind successful franchises like "The Conjuring" and "It," follows author Ben Mears as he uncovers a vampire infestation in his hometown. Despite the company's recent resistance to straight-to-streaming releases, "Salem's Lot" will forego a theatrical rollout and instead premiere on Max.
