Juilliard Composer Fired for Sexual Misconduct.

Juilliard School in New York has fired Robert Beaser, chair of its composition department for 24 years, following an independent legal investigation that found credible evidence of sexual misconduct. The case against Beaser had been brought to light last December in a VAN magazine report on predatory sexual activities at Juilliard. The school has vowed to improve student protection and will ban all romantic or sexual relationships between faculty and students from the new academic year.

The Juilliard School has fired composition professor Robert Beaser after an independent investigation found "credible evidence" of sexual misconduct and behavior that interfered with students' academic work. The Juilliard School has fired composer Robert Beaser, the former head of its composition faculty, after an independent law firm investigated allegations of sexual harassment and misconduct against Beaser dating from the late 1990s and 2000s. The investigators found "credible evidence that Mr. Beaser engaged in conduct which interfered with individuals' academic work and was inconsistent with Juilliard's commitment to provide a safe and supportive learning environment for its students."
