Juilliard Terminates Professor for Sexual Misconduct

The Juilliard School has fired composition professor Robert Beaser after an independent investigation found "credible evidence" of sexual misconduct and behavior that interfered with students' academic work. Beaser had been accused of making unwanted advances toward students and engaging in sexual relationships with them. The investigation was prompted by a report by classical music magazine VAN. Juilliard also looked into complaints against another professor named in the VAN investigation, Christopher Rouse, but could not fully investigate as he had died in 2019. The school vowed to strengthen oversight and ban all sexual relationships between students and professors.
