"Record-Breaking Snowstorm Paralyzes Nova Scotia, Sparks Controversy Over State of Emergency Declaration"
Nova Scotia in Canada was hit by a days-long snowstorm, leaving coastal areas buried under up to 5 feet of snow. Widespread snow totals of well over a foot were observed across the province, with Halifax’s airport recording just over 33 inches of snow. Nova Scotia Premier Tim Houston assured that efforts to clear the snow are underway, with more than 1,000 workers and 400 pieces of equipment being used to clear roads. The storm led to 500 calls for help to 911 on Sunday and another 300 calls on Monday, with many rural roads remaining impassable.
