Chicago Mayoral Race: Vallas Promises to Fire CTA Boss and Bring Back Retired Cops.
Chicago mayoral candidate Paul Vallas defended his plan to bring back retired police officers to fill department vacancies, despite similar efforts in other cities failing. Vallas also pledged to restore "beat integrity" for officers and fire CTA President Dorval Carter if elected. He has no intention of raising property taxes and supports ranked choice voting and reparations for descendants of enslaved people. Vallas faces Cook County Commissioner Brandon Johnson in the April 4 runoff election.
