Samsung T5 EVO Portable SSD: Insane Capacity in a Compact Design
Samsung has launched the T5 EVO Portable SSD, a high-capacity flash storage device limited to entry-level speeds. The T5 EVO offers options for 2TB, 4TB, and 8TB capacities, using QLC flash to keep pricing reasonable. The use of QLC flash allows for compelling $/TB metrics, but performance after running out of the SLC cache is poor. The T5 EVO is designed with a USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-C connector, limiting speeds to 5 Gbps. The device includes hardware encryption support and comes with a 3-year warranty.
