"Japanese Forest Fairies Inspire Naming of New Pygmy Squid Species"
Two new species of pygmy squid have been discovered in the waters of Okinawa, Japan. The Ryukyuan pygmy squid is named after the Kijimuna, red-haired creatures from Japanese folklore that live in banyan trees, while the Hannan's pygmy squid is named after underwater photographer Brandon Ryan Hannan.
