Apple Watch Blood Oxygen Feature Restored in the US After Redesign

Apple is releasing a software update to restore blood oxygen measurement features on certain US Apple Watch models, after a legal dispute led to the feature's removal. The update redesigns how blood oxygen data is presented, performing analysis on the iPhone instead of the watch itself, and is aimed at wellness rather than medical diagnosis. "Apple Watch Pulse Oximetry: Redesign, Ban, and Future Activation"

Apple has filed an appeal to overturn the ruling, and there is also the option to settle with Masimo. Meanwhile, the disabled feature only applies to U.S. models, and the watches remain fully functional in other countries.
