"Mystery Pneumonia Outbreak Strikes Healthy Individuals in Argentina"
Dozens of people in Buenos Aires, Argentina have been hospitalized with severe atypical pneumonia, resembling the early days of the Covid pandemic. An alert via ProMed, an international public health surveillance system, highlighted the increase in cases, with some patients showing signs of psittacosis, also known as parrot fever, caused by a type of chlamydia common in birds. While the exact nature of the illness remains unclear, experts warn against complacency and suggest that contact with birds, including wild parakeets, may be a risk factor.
