Patriots eye high-upside WR haul as cap space swells
New England is prioritizing an upgrade at wide receiver this offseason, with about $60 million in cap space after reportedly releasing Stefon Diggs. If a big-name trade for a target like A.J. Brown isn’t possible, the Patriots could spend on a new No. 1 receiver, considering a pool of targets (Alec Pierce, Mike Evans, Rashid Shaheed, Romeo Doubs, Christian Kirk, Jalen Nailor, Jalen Tolbert, Tim Patrick, Treylon Burks) with Pro Football Focus projecting contracts from roughly $1.5 million to $24 million per year.
