
Thompson holds on in MS-2 Dem primary as Eller edges Wilson in GOP
In Mississippi’s 2nd Congressional District, Democratic incumbent Bennie Thompson won the Democratic primary with about 86% of the 65,100 votes, defeating Evan Turnage and Pertis Williams (AP called the winner). In the Republican primary, Ron Eller narrowly defeated Kevin Wilson, 51.1% to 48.9% of 22,884 votes. The Cook Political Report still rates the district Solidly Democratic, giving Thompson a strong path to November.
