A 4-year-old police K-9 named Aron died from heat exhaustion after being left in an air-conditioned patrol car that unexpectedly shut off when the officer was away from the vehicle. The Houston Police Department is investigating the incident to prevent similar incidents from happening in the future.
A Sevierville Police K-9 was shot and seriously injured during an officer-involved shooting in Sevier County, Tennessee. The incident occurred when law enforcement officers were following up on a felony evading charge at a residence in the New Center community. One person was killed and two others were seriously injured. The TBI is investigating the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
