Former Baltimore Prosecutor Marilyn Mosby Convicted of Perjury Charges
Marilyn Mosby, the former Baltimore prosecutor known for pursuing charges against police officers in the Freddie Gray case, has been found guilty of perjury in federal court. She was charged with falsely claiming financial hardship to withdraw money from a retirement fund. Mosby faces up to five years in prison for each conviction. Her handling of the Gray case brought her national attention, but subsequent failures in court, an indictment on perjury charges, and a divorce from her husband, the president of the Baltimore City Council, have tarnished her reputation. Prosecutors accused Mosby of using the money to fund down payments for vacation homes in Florida. She will also face separate fraud charges related to mortgage loan applications for those homes.
