Square Enix has confirmed that Vincent and Cid will be AI companions and not fully playable characters in Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, similar to Red XIII in the Remake. However, Red XIII will be playable this time, along with Cait Sith and Yuffie. Sephiroth will also be briefly playable, while Zack Fair will have an expanded role. Vincent and Cid will still fight alongside the party in an AI-controlled fashion.
