Father of ex-NFL player who killed 6 sues alma mater over alleged lack of CTE treatment.
Alonzo Adams, the father of former NFL player Phillip Adams, is suing his son's alma mater, South Carolina State University, for failing to provide adequate head trauma treatment during his college football career. Phillip Adams fatally shot six people before killing himself in April 2021, and an autopsy revealed he suffered from Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy (CTE), a degenerative brain disease linked to head injuries. The lawsuit alleges that the university's negligence contributed to Adams' death, and that he also sustained head trauma during his six-year NFL career.
