"Apple Settles iPhone Throttling Case, Owners to Receive $92 Payouts"
Apple has started paying out settlements to US-based iPhone users affected by the company's decision to throttle the performance of iPhones with degraded batteries, with some users receiving $92.17 payments. The settlement, which took over three years to finalize, was for a minimum of $310 million and a maximum of $500 million, with Apple agreeing to provide $25 payments to affected users for each eligible iPhone. The settlement faced delays due to class-action lawsuits and appeals, but the US Court of Appeals for the 9th Circuit dismissed the last remaining appeal, allowing payments to be made in January 2024.
