Counterfeit Samsung SSDs Exposed: Underperforming and Sold Online

Fake Samsung 980 & 990 Pro SSDs have been circulating online, with one particular model, the "Samsung 980 EVO 4 TB," being sold on AliExpress for a significantly low price. Upon testing, it was revealed that the SSD performed much worse than a conventional USB stick, with read and write speeds of 36.25 MB/s and 0.84 MB/s, respectively. The fake SSDs had unprofessional packaging, attempted to hide the Samsung branding, and had fraudulent attempts to hide their true identity. This raises concerns about the authenticity of retailers like AliExpress, and consumers are advised to be cautious and avoid falling for such scams.
