Papu Gómez Receives 2-Year Doping Ban After World Cup Victory
Argentine World Cup winner Alejandro "Papu" Gómez has been given a two-year ban for failing an anti-doping test after testing positive for terbutaline, a drug used to calm bronchospasm crisis. Gómez, who played for Sevilla at the time, joined the Argentina squad that went on to win the World Cup. He recently joined Italian club Monza as a free agent and has played in two Serie A matches since returning to Italy. This is the second doping case involving a Serie A player this season, with Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba also testing positive.
