Texas Implements New Laws to Enhance School Safety and Parental Rights.
Texas has mandated the installation of panic buttons in every classroom of public schools to combat mass shootings. The alert systems, named "Alyssa's Law," will immediately contact school and area emergency service agencies when triggered. Texas is one of five states to pass the law, which invests $1.7 million into implementing the new emergency system. The state's schools have until 2025 to purchase and install the alarms and train staff and teachers on how to use them.
