Award-winning Portland chef Naomi Pomeroy drowned after her paddleboard leash and a strap connecting inner tubes got caught on a submerged tree in the Willamette River. Despite extensive search efforts, her body has not yet been recovered. Pomeroy was a celebrated figure in the culinary world, known for her restaurant Beast and her appearance on "Top Chef Masters." She is survived by her husband and daughter. Authorities continue to search for her body and have issued safety warnings about the dangers of leashing to paddleboards in moving water.
