The mid-tier Pixel 7a has an inferior version of the Tensor G2 chipset compared to the Pixel 7, as Google used a different packaging technique called IPoP instead of FOPLP-PoP. While the difference is not significant, the Pixel 7 performs better under heavy load and gaming. However, the Pixel 7a is $100 cheaper and still regarded as one of the best affordable phones.
