Actor Michael Sheen has founded and funded Wales’ new National Theatre, starring in its debut production Our Town, with ambitions to create bold, internationally resonant Welsh theatre, develop local talent, and attract public/private funding, including sponsorships, while personally guaranteeing initial costs to attract partners.
The upcoming fall Broadway revival of Thornton Wilder’s Our Town will feature a 28-actor cast led by Jim Parsons, Zoey Deutch, Katie Holmes, Ephraim Sykes, and Richard Thomas, with the production set to begin previews at the Barrymore Theatre on September 17. Directed by Kenny Leon, the classic drama, which originally debuted on Broadway in 1938, will mark the first revival since 2002 and is being produced by a team including Jeffrey Richards and Daryl Roth.
