"Organoid Intelligence: The Future of Computing?"
Organoid Intelligence (OI) is a new field of computing that aims to create biocomputers using lab-grown brain organoids as "biological hardware." Researchers at Johns Hopkins University have been working with brain organoids, which promise to sustain basic functions like learning and remembering. By scaling up production of brain organoids and training them with artificial intelligence, biocomputers could support superior computing speed, processing power, data efficiency, and storage capabilities. OI could also revolutionize drug testing research for neurodevelopmental disorders and neurodegeneration.
