Online fans help Punch the monkey transition from loner to troop member
A baby Japanese macaque named Panchi-kun at Ichikawa City Zoo in Japan, initially isolated and clinging to an orange plush toy, has begun integrating with his troop after a wave of online support. Fans used the hashtag がんばれパンチ (HangInTherePunch), and the zoo reports Punch is increasingly interacting, being groomed by others, and receiving both public and brand support (including plushy donations from IKEA Japan) as crowds rally for his well-being.
