Fowler and Schauffele Make U.S. Open History with Record-Setting 62s.
Rickie Fowler changed his putter grip and shaved 1/8" off his club before the US Open, which helped him shoot a record-setting 62 in the first round. Fowler switched to a longer Odyssey Versa Jailbird putter earlier this year and added a SuperStroke Tour 3.0 17-inch grip and 20-25 grams of lead tape on the sole. He made every putt inside 15 feet and ranked first in SG: Putting through the morning wave on Thursday. Fowler hopes the putter will help him win his first major championship.
