The husband of a missing Florida mother, Nicole Baldwin, has been arrested by U.S. Marshals in connection with a Homeland Security case involving possession of obscene material. Brett Baldwin's arrest is unrelated to his wife's disappearance, and the family hopes it doesn't distract from the ongoing search for Nicole. The arrest has caused stress for the family, and their daughter expressed concern about negative comments online. A Homeland Security spokesperson declined to comment due to an ongoing investigation.
A former South Carolina sheriff's deputy, Sean Joseph Egan, has been arrested and charged with disseminating obscene material to a minor and unlawfully placing a child at risk. Egan, who had previously worked for the South Carolina Highway Patrol, allegedly exposed himself in front of a child at a residence in Ware Shoals. He was hired by the Greenville County Sheriff's Office in January but was placed on administrative leave and later fired in March due to an ongoing investigation by the State Law Enforcement Division (SLED). The case will be prosecuted by the 8th Circuit Solicitor's Office.
