
Oregon Officer Killed in Line of Duty, Suspect Arrested
Joseph Johnson, a reserve police officer in Nyssa, was shot and killed while on duty. Johnson had an extensive history of community service, including working as a volunteer reserve officer, a firefighter, and a therapeutic counselor. He also taught criminal justice and psychology courses as an adjunct instructor at Treasure Valley Community College. Johnson was pursuing a suspect when he was shot and killed. He is survived by his wife and two children. The Nyssa Police Department is working with the Oregon Fallen Badge Foundation to provide financial assistance to Johnson’s family.
