
Clovis mom survives deadly Highway 99 pileup amid Fresno fog
A Clovis mother and her husband escaped serious injury in a 17-vehicle pileup on Highway 99 near Fresno caused by dense fog, with at least two dozen people involved. One fatality, 61-year-old Gustavo Villanueva Vargas, occurred at the scene, and his wife was hospitalized; the couple Melissa Culver and her husband were unharmed but shaken. The CHP says visibility was as low as 10–15 feet and the crash remains under investigation as authorities urge drivers to exercise caution in foggy conditions.
